Jenny Hope Antes - Biography

About the Artist

Jenny Hope Antes

Introspective, nature-based, large scale works of art

Jenny Hope Antes (b. Bronx, NY) works primarily outdoors on large-scale, mixed media paintings. Her artistic process is informed by keen sensory awareness and her earlier career in post-colonialistic archaeology and rematriation. The artist is a published poet, educational consultant, and has led undergraduate faculty in studio arts, ancient history, humanities, and world culture courses, after completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Archaeology and Heritage Management. She sculpts in clay and household materials and is constantly experimenting with maps, organic and manufactured objects, including liquids and castings. She experiments with physical aspects of blurriness and decisiveness to indicate ambiguity as well as more recognizable references to the outdoors, architectural and sites of personal significance. In 2025, Antes completed the MFA (Visual Studies) from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and attended artist residencies at Foundation House (Greenwich, Connecticut) and Oxbow School of the Arts (Michigan). In January, 2026 she was awarded the Hale Family fellowship and artist-in-residence at the Nantucket Island Art Association in Massachusetts after moving to Charlestown, Rhode Island. Her artwork is currently exhibited at the University of Rhode Island.
